With a breadth and depth of experience, we can flex to meet client needs. Our network delivers technical expertise and local context, supported remotely and in-country with specialist consultants. This hybrid approach minimises travel costs, promotes local capability and strengthens the results we deliver. In the Asia-Pacific region, we have consultants in Australia, Fiji, Tonga, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

In Africa, we have delivered projects in Malawi, South Sudan, South Africa, Lesotho, Senegal and Kenya. While in Asia we have supported projects and clients in Bangladesh, Thailand, the Philippines, China and Taiwan.

Our team

Mardi leads MarVAL. She is qualified and experienced in evaluation, engineering and business, with specific expertise in procurement, monitoring and evaluation and project management. Her experience spans the following sectors: climate change, disaster risk management, agriculture, civil society engagement, public financial management, governance, law and justice, education, health and gender.

Since 2002 Mardi has lived and worked in senior positions in Australia, Asia and Africa. Since 2014 she has worked across the Pacific. She has worked on multi-million-dollar projects with international, national, and state governments, with prominent donor agencies such as DFID, EU, KfW, Sida, DFAT and MFAT, and major consulting companies, including Deloitte. She has a participatory approach, developing, improving and implementing evaluation processes and results through consultation with diverse stakeholders, from CEOs to junior staff and beneficiaries. Mardi is versatile, personable and brings a rigorous and adaptive approach to all her work.

Mardi has a Master of Evaluation, Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace), Bachelor of Business (Supply Chain and Logistics), Master of Business Administration (Technology Management) and a Graduate Certificate in Family Violence Prevention.

We have a network of over 70 consultants who are both experienced in procurement, monitoring and evaluation and in technical and complementary areas. In 2023, MarVAL’s teams also included specific experts in climate change and the environment, finance, law and justice, and infrastructure.

MARDI TROMPF

Vivian is a member of the MarVAL team based in Melbourne. She holds a Master of Globalisation and qualifications in accountancy, internal audit and information technology. Vivian has more than a decade of in-country, international development across Tonga, Solomon Islands, PNG, Fiji and Kiribati. Since 2006, she has worked in professional services in Australia across government, financial services and telecommunications sectors. Since 2014 she has worked in Southeast Asia and the Pacific across private sector manufacturing entities. This includes in Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, PNG and Solomon Islands.

Vivian also has over a decade of experience in public and private sector Internal Audit, Risk Advisory, Change Management, Business Process Re-engineering (specialising in shared services roll out), and Public Finance Reform. She is resilient, adaptable and results driven. Vivian is approachable and brings innovative and a pragmatic approach to break down complex problems to achieve the desired goal in non-conventional environments.
